Hello John and welcome. 😊 I have copd for 10 years now, mostly well managed but with various nasty viruses 💩 doing the rounds at present plus pneumonia, I feel totally wiped out! No energy, extreme shortness of breath and a hubby who does not understand my disease. BUT there is only YOU to live life and move forward or make the decision lie down and die.

Nursing for 40 years I have been privileged to help with comfort and care when someone dies. Copd can be a favourable death with compassion and pain free assistance for all concerned.

I have a 97 year old father whom I care for and pray 🙏 that he dies before me..

We all have our sadness/pain and fear to cope with. I hope you will find a path through your darkness and into new light and direction. Thinking of you. Best wishes. Dawn.xx

Hi Dawn, I have bronchiectasis among other things and dread the thought of taking ages to die slowly eventually being totally unable to breath. Your few words of comfort to John about your experience as a nurse ensuring that death is peaceful and pain free are so reassuring. I shall think of that when having dark moments. Thank you so much❤️❤️xxxx

Nula let me reassure you, that ain't going happen. Managing a peaceful end to life is possible with care and compassion. Hospice care and home care are really not impossible. Marie Curie manage home care and hospice care is available to you also. My father has an advanced directive for his end of life care I'm pleased it's in place.

Its not doom and gloom but just maybe it will put your mind at rest and we still live life as best we can. Kind regards. Dawn.xx 🥰

❤️Thank you Dawn. I should know better really as I have had a very close experience of the wonderful amazing care given in a hospice near me. You could not put a price on it - it was priceless. I thank you for your time and tolerance of this silly woman 😅. Take care xxxx

the trouble is hospice care in UK is only 3 weeks, in my area anyway. And COPD is a disease where it's difficult to judge the end. I was recently placed in hospice after being hospital with infection and I got kicked out after 3 weeks to rehab cos I didn't die.

Not what you're looking for?
