Does anyone else need to stamp the floor during an asthma attack, and their arms ache afterwards?

Thanks.

My husband has COPD and sometimes coughs so much he can’t take a breath in. He stamps on the floor in sheer panic and I have to get him to do pursed lip breathing. No aching arms though xxx

Thanks very much for your reply.

At the time, it does feel like the end is nigh.

The nurse l spoke to says stamping is a stress response. 'Stress' is certainly an understatement of the way I feel at the time !

Me too ... I just concentrate on breathing as slowly and shallowly as I can , there's no energy there to panic

That's an anxiety or Panic attack. You need to concentrate on your breathing and slow it down xxSheila
