Had my appointment last week in London last week. First was at 09:30 am & the last at 6:30pm. Unfortunately, the LOX had just run out (slow leak) so loaded 2 cylinders into a shopping trolley (seriously, the old lady ones) & set off for Euston. Lung Function test showed improvement & Cardiograph was fine. However, looks like the hypoxia is permanent, although they can't be 100% sure, the words "highly likely" were used. Ended up walking 12.5 miles and then doing 10 miles each day for the rest of the week to prove something to myself more than anything. Still feel like I'm on a leash, but the grief/acceptance process can properly begin now. Anyone got top tips on how to get through it? Keep reciting the serenity prayer & thinking of making a playlist...

Uv certainly worked hard
We can feel grief for many things: the loss of a loved one, the loss of a way of life, the loss of our personal self image and the need to find a new life after this.
"The term 'grief work' is known as the process of putting your grief into perspective and finding a way to work it into your life as you heal from your loss. It requires actively mourning your losses and working through the pain and suffering associated with grieving." (taken from a Google search).
It's hard having to live through the different stages: disbelief, anger, attempts to negotiate and barter, before acceptance. But more damage can be done if the grief is masked for too long through drink or drug -taking.
Try to be kind to yourself as you work through this. Keep coming back here, and let us know how you are doing. Many of us have been through that stage of grief because of the loss of our old self image and way of life. We have found new self images, and new ways of being ourselves. Try to trust the process, even though it is heart-breaking at the time.
