what does it take to get a diagnoses these days.

After my last comment on here I found that others were getting the tests they needed to determine what they had as far as COPD diagnoses was concerned, so I spoke to my psychologist (yes I'm suffering from severe depression because of this drama) and she wrote to my GP demanding something be done. Lo and behold I got an appointment at the surgery and was told it was to sort out the COPD diagnoses. I get there and immediately am told it is all my fault because I didn't phone the respitory team. I apparently had been told twice to phone them by the nurse at the surgery, which I don't remember and because of this I am at fault, the nurse then started having a go at me because I am still smoking, is it any wonder with the stress I am under just trying to find out after over 2 years what is wrong with me. I asked why I was supposed to phone the team, why is the surgery not dealing with this but the excuses started pouring out and I just got up and walked out. Still don't know what the actual diagnoses, still don't know what is happening and now even more depressed than when I went in. I feel like screaming, all O want to know is what do I have.

So sorry you're having such a rough time. Your surgery sounds totally unsympathetic, which is totally useless when dealing with someone with mental health problems of any kind. Are they trying to make you worse? I hope you can get to see someone with more empathy. Please don't give up. Contact them as soon as you feel up to it.

So sorry your So stressed and having a bad time but personally to help yourself I would do as your surgery has told you to do and ring your Respiratory clinic and ask them for an appointment to assess your condition. I find they are very good in my area. And they work with copd every day of the week. Hope you get some answers and feel better soon. Brian
