Romantic Memories.

β€’20 Replies

Of all the things we've had to lose

Since the deadly virus struck,

Is romantic interludes

And the way one looks.

There's few that you can hug now,

Standing full six foot away,

After punching them on the elbow

In a most peculiar display.

Holding hands in the moonlight

With plastic glove on hand,

Makes the whole occasion

Seem something rather bland.

Returning to the ballroom

What fun is that I ask,

Spending time with your loved one

Dancing mask to mask.

That was a great rhyme Don and so true these days it seems, sad to say. XxxxπŸ˜˜πŸ’–

I doubt the truth of it Carole but it's a bit of fun thinking it. 😁😘x

I suspect the youngsters will have found ways around any such obstacles. πŸ˜‰

Good morning Mr.D and i have to say i almost had tears in my eyes, in a good way after reading your rhyme. It's a very clever skill to make your readers laugh and almost cry in just a hand full of well chosen words 😍. Its a cloudy and damp miserable day here and yet another heat wave is due for the weekend 😰. Have you made any exciting plans for the weekend Mr.D ? I'm still sitting on my fence quite undecided yet. Love to marvellous Midge. 🐿🌈

Indecision is the new enemy SH. Although I'm able to travel and still keep isolated in the van I'm always finding reasons not to. Even Midge seems to have become affected and is happy to lazy around sleeping a lot. It's now down to the knitted ones, Dolly and her sister Scarecrow Sally, to nag us both when we go in the camper. πŸ™„πŸš

Oh now there's a surprise πŸ™Š!! To think , Scarecrow Sally & Dolly would be begging you for an outing, even a small 🚐 drive and park up somewhere nice and scenic πŸ–, just to get rid of all the cobwebs and more importantly, for you to be gently getting back to the pleasures in life, that COVID-19 riped away so cruelly from us all. (Hope this is making some sense?).

I had to go to a Doctors appointment yesterday and having not left my home since March, i hit anxiety levels that i never knew existed. I got into one hell of a state but thankfully my son accompanied me and he counted the breathing in and out, whilst the medics at the surgery wanted to call an πŸš‘. No way. All i needed was to get home.

I think I'm trying to re-enforce how vital it is for us folk to start making baby steps back into whatever gave us pleasure before COVID-19. Apologies for the long winded message. 🐿🌈x

It's good to get these thoughts out into the open as you have SH. No one wants to be thought of as a quivering wimp, but it's worse to think you are the only one being affected in that way. πŸ€”x

Can absolutely empathize with that.

Somehow after so long isolating ones horizons shrink and home just feels safe and comforting.

Not a good mental attitude I know but it will I think take time to shift back into the normality of the stream of life outside our homes.

You always manage to see the funny side of a situation Don. All true, of course. I'm wondering how they will organise Strictly Come Dancing come the Autumn. They will have to be ultra creative in their thinking this year!

I love that simple line poster you included with the poem.

The poster is used by a gentleman member of this forum as his avatar and I much admired it.

How clever! What a great piece of writing well done I love it. The only people I really want to hug is my children and grandchildren- will I ever again? X
