With research interests in the environmental origins of asthma, Hyunok Choi has a deep understanding of the impact of air pollution on human health. She has a Ph.D. in environmental health sciences from Columbia University and an M.P.H from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, and before landing at SUNY Albany as an assistant professor in the department of environmental health sciences, served as a postdoctoral research associate at the Harvard School of Public Health.
Below, Choi, whose work focuses on the long-term impacts of prenatal and early-life exposure to air pollution, discusses both the impact of air pollution on COVID-19 and some lessons we can learn from the current decrease in human-generated pollution.
