Sorry to rain on the parade rodders, but there is something called a Immune Risk Profile (IRP) which predicts mortality and frailty in the elderly. The hallmark parameters of the IRP may be associated with poorer responses to vaccination. Longitudinal studies have begun to reveal biomarkers of immune ageing. It is known as immunosenescence. So, I guess that any vaccine may be too late for us wrinklies. I am feeling glum right now...

Hopefully Cateran if the vaccine is not suitable for you the fact that most of the population have immunity through an effective vaccine , it will protect you and those that cannot have the vaccine xx

in reply toCateran

Don’t feel glum! The best vaccine prospect atm seems to be Oxford’s & I saw an “expert” interviewed who said the type they’re developing can produce a good & safe response even in those with poor immunity. I can’t remember who he/she was but not connected to Ox. The science whizzes over my head but here’s Ox’s explanation of the vaccine ovg.ox.ac.uk/news/oxford-co...

Hanne l think you are right oxford or cambridge will take the prize of the first vaccine , the government can not afford to have a nation out of work , l would put my last pound on they are pushing them 24/ 7 . take care Rodders

Coteran, l think it will be a case of the politicians deciding who gets the jabs first

and another spike of cases in the elderly and vulnerable would be bad press to tell them it was a waist medication . take care Rodders

Here’s hoping. I’d be glad to have the vaccine, but I don’t know what sort of priority we will be.

Oshgosh dont worry we will get the vaccine after the front line troops ,

the last thing the politicians want is the old and the weak filling hospital

beds, its very bad press. take care Rodders

Apart from filling the beds They don’t want us in hosptal in case we kick the bucket. That would pay havoc with the statistics!

Please don’t think I’m cynical,but I’m starting to worry.

Will we ever be allowed out again?

Will we be able to see our grandchildren again,

Had another questionnaire, but deleted t as i May get told off for being political.

Stay safe everyone

I don’t know where, but I read that “the shielded” will be first in line after the front line folk. They did something to the flu vaccine a couple of years ago to improve the immune response in the elderly. Adjuvant? Hopefully the same can be done for this one. They better get a move on as I’m not getting any younger and I’ve got places to go!

in reply toteenieleek

Yes it makes sense to immunise the vulnerable first & I too have read this is the intention. It was certainly mentioned by Sir John Bell, Prof of Medicine involved with the Oxford trial

? Monje two Delboy!

Let’s just hope anyone with antibodies are safe! It will still be scary for anyone without antibodies presuming most of us haven’t come into contact with it. I guess we will in theory be unsafe until a safe and effective vaccine comes our way. Sorry a bit negative.

Whoop sorry totally misread your post . Thought you were referring to the antibody tests🙄 must be my stir crazy ness ( or lack of humans and probably Prosecco shortage) 😂😂
