Hi. I'm requel & new to this site. I have had copd for 7 years now & was diagnosed mild. I been very fortunate not to have had any chest infections etc since I had it. My question is am I at risk with this coronavirus etc. It seems I not at high risk so should I isolate for 12 weeks. Worried as work in care home but if take it upon myself to isolate I won't get paid. Many thanksx

I would say, yes, you should isolate. I was diagnosed about ten years ago and never really gave it much thought until a couple of years on I caught a bad cold and ended up in hospital. Better to play safe with your health.
If your lungs are compromised in any way I think you are at a greater risk than someone without lung issues. You have been Very lucky so far.
Personally I would isolate. But to balance that there are nurses working on the front line of the NHS with the same stage. It is very much a personal choice.
I have mild copd and am under 70 so am considered at risk but not high risk so am not self isolating. I only go out every 3 days or and am washing my hands frequently and obviously social isolating. I am not sure of the law in this respect but I should think as you are in the risk group you need to be off work. If they retain you then you will be eligible for the 80 per cent of your wages etc. x
