so tell me what is severe lung

so how do the NHS wakefield saying what is a severe lung as they say i am not a at risk person but i have severe emphysema so piz tell me who say who at risk and who is not

Severe Emphysema is classed as at high risk, being on oxygen is classed at high risk. The fact that you are on oxygen whilst being severe indicates to me that you must have a very low DLCO ( gas exchange) as well, once again puts you at high risk. There has to be a clerical/data base error. You should definitely be self-isolating (staying indoors) and questioning your status with your GP about this, something is wrong at their end.

just had a doc telling me that if i need a litter to stay am hight risk i need to ask NHS but am not am going out and about that for sure and it all be on them

That is cause for a complaint, there is no excuse for his ignorance the NHS clinical information is there for him to access. If a layperson like me now the facts, then he should certainly know.

2greys Sorry to jump in but what is considered a low DCLO and what is considered very low? Is there an official scale, like with FEV1? Thanks

Less than 30% is considered very low, requiring supplementary oxygen. Some people with very severe Emphysema (stage 4) may not need oxygen for a long time. Just one of the reasons why we are all different. Lung disease is extremely complex and not all just about FEV1% although it is a good indicator for the average without further complications. Some people will require supplementary oxygen because of a weak diaphragm, as do some with poor posture. There is no set rule, we are all different.

Yes severe emphysema is high risk, t have that and bronchiectasis, caus d by Alpha1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, I am at risk and have to stay indoors for12 weeks, I can go out in my garden, you should have a txt followed by a letter from the NHS. X

Stay at home for 12 weeks!

A mistake has been made and you are VERY vulnerable . Follow the gov advise. Don’t take chances.

sorry i nhad efo of all this 2nd time now the wakefield nhs as let me down am going tomo and ask to be sing off so i can go get a job if they dont think am high risk then i think i can work

There is a high risk to you if your ‘out and about’ and you are a risk to other people. Save a hospital bed and stay home.
