There are a group of non-tb mycobacteria. They do infect animals but can infect us too . Also the incidence of these strains and resistance has increased with the increase in homeless people living in such terrible conditions, not at a fixed address making the unbroken treatment regime difficult to maintain , and with the incidence of HIV too

I do not remember many but there is a frog bacillus -- M xenopei ,

and M bovis is cattle associated. I seem to remember one associated with swimming baths. Have you been given a name ? You did not give one..

Know nothing about the treatment though it does take a long time and is not easy. Do persist.

Sorry to hear you have problems with it, i hope someone can give you better info.

All the best

Hi.thanks for the reply they didn't give me a name of the strain my lungs are already weakened through having emphysema and they think that's why I picked up this infection.

Anything that reduces your resistance leaves you open to infections.

Have you googled this.? . I seem to spend most of my time doing this these days. There is a lot of info more up to date .

What i know dates from years of the last century and only what i just remembered from working life then.
