Researchers from King’s College London have carried out the first comprehensive study of fine particles on the London Underground to evaluate the exposure of people travelling on different parts of the network. In the study, published today in the journal Environment International, they found that concentrations of fine particles (PM2.5) which are linked to several health problems, were many times greater than in other modes of transport such as cycling, driving and taking a bus and those in subway systems around the world.

New study reveals high levels of pollution on London Underground.
How frustrating, I wrote a reply and it disappeared 🤔
Basically I was wondering why pollution levels are worse in London than in Beijing, Guangzhou, Los Angeles, Mexico, New York, Seoul, Taipei, Sydney, and Barcelona.
Actually London is a lot better now than it used to be. As I write this, Southampton , where I live, has 31.9 microgams of PM2.5 per cubic metre of air , whilst London has 12.3 microgams of PM2.5 per cubic metre of air.
Southampton has almost 3 times as much PM2.5 pollution than London!
I don’t think that they test them properly. I was in Saigon last year and had to wear a mask. The fumes were so thick that even inside buildings you could smell it. I do wish that the extinction rebellion and climate protesters in this country would concentrate their ire on the embassies of these countries.
