Hi All. When I’m out and about I take my time and when I get breathless I stop for a minute but now I find along with the breathlessness I feel very light headed 🥴 and feel I will faint if I don’t sit down! Does anyone else get this x

IV been feeling exactly the same the Dr said it's part of my illness, pulmonary fibrosis and I can't do anything about it but surely there's something that can be done x

I don’t think there is anything to be done unfortunately we just have to put up with it! Take care of yourself x

I feel/felt like that all the time, I got a super stroller for that reason, if I had feelings of balance trouble, I could sit down immediately. Also, because our diseases are mostly hidden to other people, the stroller explains without words I MUST be ill or disabled to use one.

That is exactly my POINT! you must let your pride go, or would you rather die!

FOR GOD'S SAKE, how many times have we all complained about these crap shows on TV? Lamenting about how the world treats them, I tell you what....in my experience, most people get what they deserve.

I know that is why I don't hear from my friends, the ones close enough to visit! The same reason most families move around the country, they can keep in touch, but don't have to worry about bumping into them down the road, the only way to truly move on is to " move away!"

My friends will be wracked with guilt, when I pass, I won't have many sins, ( he gave us free choice ), we all have regrets, we cannot be responsible for theirs! That was their choice!

You....choose to walk! GET A STROLLER, watch the world view of you change, the doctors have no idea what is ailing you until they MRI you! That costs a lot of money....SIMPLE.

Get yourself an oximeter from somewhere like Amazon so you can check your oxygen levels. You may need to go on ambulatory oxygen.

Yes, a lot of my symptoms, basically, say my body is not getting the all round oxygen supply, but, the oximeter says 90/95%, that is why I am in the too hard basket!

Yes, it happens to me too, it’s got worse since my breathlessness has increased but I have always had a tendency to feel faint when stressed.

I get anxious when breathless, then feel lightheaded which makes my anxiety worse.

My oxygen readings can be ok and it still happens, especially if I do too much or stand up too long, or have even a slight shock, or not eaten lately.

It’s something to do with the Vagus nerve as well, I have been told . I have always had low blood pressure too, but that’s gone up now. Recently a blood test showed I was slightly anaemic. My blood sugar levels have been tested.

I would tell your heath professional and ask for advice.

Do breathing exercises or join a singing for lung health group to help you learn to control your breathing better. The British Lung Foundation website lists groups in the UK on its website.

Yes, i feel like that a lot of the time, and the worry of it restricts me going out on my own, apart from if i’m out in the fields. I think it is part of our condition, and the more we think and worry the worse it is. I always eat before i venture out and have manuka honey in hot drinks. Then pace myself and take things easy. I don’t get too breathless unless i hurry, i can walk most distances.

I hope this will ease for you.

Hi, have you spoken to your gp or respiratory nurses?

As others have mentioned it could be related to blood pressure or blood sugar as well as low 02.

Like Knitter, my BP was always on the low side. Now I'm older with bronchiectasis and worsening asthma my BP usually reads normal which is annoyingly igored by medics.

I'm borderline diabetic and do get your symptoms when blood sugar plummets. Fainted a couple of times.

There's a breathing technique which helps enormously when using stairs and walking up hill: pursed lip breathing, demo on YouTube.

When unwell I use an oximeter - Biosync bought via Amazon £20, thus one has a little pouch with a long loup to go around the neck. When feeling feeble and breathless, pop on the finger (without nail polish), do the pursed lip breathing & watch the 02 rise and the pulse go down.

Hope this helps. You could ring blf help line: 03000 030555 UK office hours to speak to an expert for guidance . P

If you use. A finger monitor and your hands are cold it will give low readings.

I sometimes take hand warmers out.

Hi Looseloafers,

Unfortunately that is the worst part of this condition. I feel the same as you and has been like that for some time now. This year we couldn't go out that much because of my breathlessness so I have put my pride away and today I ordered a light weight wheelchair because I don't want to be confined at home. My consultant said there is no medication that can help me, singing didn't help me I would get the cough and was disturbing every body else.

I hope you find a way to manage this problem.

Thinking of you.

Do you use supplemental oxygen? J

Looseloafers profile image
Looseloafers in reply tojmsutt73

No not as yet probably will have to eventually x

Unknown to me, until it reached crisis point, my oxygen was dropping . I will never regret going to supplemental oxygen. It allows me the freedom to go out without worrying if I am damaging my other major organs with oxygen drops. Think about it. Best wishes. J
