Mount Sinai Researchers Develop Novel Method to Identify Patterns Among Patients With Multiple Chronic Conditions.

A study published this month in BMJ Open by researchers at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai proposes a novel method for identifying patterns in the frequency and cost of multiple chronic conditions (MCC).

Researchers examined Medicaid claims data for 190,000 patients in the Mount Sinai Health System between 2012 and 2014. In this cohort, 61 percent of patients had MCC—the presence of two or more chronic conditions in one individual—a level far higher than in the U.S. general population (42 percent).

Very interesting on so many levels. Not least because some doctors only want to hear about one condition at a time, as if each only affects you separately one at a time rather than interact with each other. The article says the most surprising combination of conditions are heart and lungs, that was the one I thought of first, to me the most unexpected is high blood pressure and high cholesterol, I didn't actually know cholesterol is a chronic condition. Another interesting article thank you.

Thanks greys I must read more of this later when I have some more time, I told the great one in the sky 5 is enough, no more thank you very much. It becomes more and more difficult to manage things with multiple health issues not to mention it can be emotionally upsetting at times.
