Azithromycin 250mg
Hello garshe . I was on this everyday for five years. No side effects and I think it kept me relatively well. I hope it works for you too. xx 🍀
Morning Sheila, Pete has been taking Azithromycin for a long time with no ill effects. They do help prevent chest infections. Just see how it goes.
Wishing you well. Xxxx
Morning Sheila, I too take Azith., 3 days a week for 4 years now. Most of that time I have been clear, no side affects. I am also stage 4, have been since Diagnosis 6 years ago. Take care Hun, They do work. Love n Hugs Carolina. xxx
Hi, I’ve been on azith 500 x 3 times a week for years, no side effects. My only worry is that I may be building up a resistance to antibiotics, but I’m reluctant to stop it, in case I start having chest infections again.
Hi Garshe,
I take azithromycin 3 days a week. Before taking it I was getting frequent flare ups. My lung function was rapidly getting worse (56% down to 30% in a year).
Since starting azithromycin I've had 1 flare up, that was very soon after starting to take it, and nothing since. My lung function has stabilised at 30%.
It has caused some slight hearing loss but that's been fixed with hearing aids. The way I see it is needing hearing aids is a lot better than the alternative - a wooden overcoat because my lungs were failing.
However I o have a reaction to a lot of drugs so I'm not a typical example.
Azithromycin works well for most of us,
Morning sheila, I have been taking azithromycin 3 times a week. Completely stopped flare ups so far but I am dearfer. Good luck jane.
It seems others have noticed hearing difficulties. I haven't got this problem at the moment, did you have a hearing problem before taking arithromycin. X Sheila
I have it 3 days a week. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Have done for years. It's kept my Bronchiectasis under control really well. I haven't had an exacerbation for 3 years. 😊
Fantastic.x Sheila.
I also have been taking Azithromycin three days a week for a few years now. My exacerbations have more or less vanished. I used to have about four or five a year. This year I had one in January.
Good luck. It is a brilliant drug especially for those of us with very severe Emphysema.
Hi Sheila, I have been taking Azithromycin for 7 years now and it really has been my miracle. Before taking the Azith I was ill with pneumonia every 6 weeks and my immune system was on the floor, my doctor thought I was dying. Azith may cause you stomach pains for the first few weeks but after that your body will adjust and you will feel normal again. They prevent you from picking up every bug you come in contact with. Give them a go. Take care, Maximonkey
I started tking these antibiotics almost 3 years ago and have not suffered an infection since. Due to takingso many other medications I am unsure what if any side effects I may have suffered but not aware of any specifically linked to taking Azithromycin.
Like a lot of others on here I take it 3x a week. I have just renewed my prescription for starting it in October, usually until April or May. Yes, I do worry about resistance and this is why I decided to take it for just half the year. Also, stay away from children - they are little bug factories! Good luck.
Cant stay a way from children as My Granddaughter who is 11yrs old lives at my house. My husband and I do the school run as my daughter works and we love it. Love having Darcy here as she keeps me young. She is never ill as eats healthy and she is the reason I am here today. I gave up smoking so I would see her grow up .She is my World . x Sheila.
