Sedentary lifestyle for 20 years linked to doubled mortality risk compared to being active.
Oops...... time I arranged my funeral! ☹️ my lifestyle has been pretty sedentary for that long at least. Serves me right.
Another reason to keep busy for us all.
I do like to sit and watch tv or read but am mindful of moving often too. Xxxxx
Last 3 yrs I've been pretty sedentary due to breathing problems oh dear will have to try move more .
I wonder if work places that employ people who have to sit all day facing their computers....call centres for example....could provide gyms or similar.
Not everyone has time after work to exercise, especially if they have young children.....bedtime, cooking, homework to sort.
Just have to keep moving!
Normally I never stop and like being busy, just need to get these issues sorted and hopefully be back to my normal self x
I agree, you don't have to go to the gym everyday, but, you shouldn't just sit on your backside all day long.
I don't care for planned exercise, but I do force myself to get on the stationary bike here at home most days or take a walk on nice days.
Also, have an interest or hobby that will cause you to get up and move. I volunteer at the local animal shelter, I'll be on my feet and moving for 2-3 hrs. I also quilt, so I'm moving from sitting at the sewing machine to standing at the ironing board and cutting fabric. Also, maintaining the yard. And I like shoveling the snow in winter.
Having breathing issues, moving helps exercise the lungs and loosening the mucus.
