I’m a bit confused and looking for help. About a month ago I was diagnosed with a A1 deficiency (50mg) through blood test - but on further genetic testing it was determined it’s not due to a genetic mutation. I am PIMM. Does anyone know of any other medical issues or diseases that could drive down A1 in blood? The only thing I’ve come across online is end stage liver failure (which I’m confident is not the case) and protein-losing diseases that have to do with GI (but no such symptoms either).

Sorry, have no idea. Are you seeing a consultant you can ask, or was the diagnosis made through your GP?
Diagnosed by my GP but seeing a specialist next week. Thanks.
Write out your questions and ask your consultant to answer them all for you. If you are able to, take someone with you so that they can hear what's said too. I found that often I didn't hear everything said by a consultant because my thoughts were distracted.
Greetings
Are you sure you're an Alpha-1 deficient? Usually, MM's don't have this problem, fortunately
Cheers

Yes. I have about 50% of normal values from blood test. Right now it’s sort of a mystery, but seeing a specialist next week. I’m told there are some infections and other liver issues that can lower A1 I blood besides genetics but I’ve never heard of that. I suspect there is more lab testing in my future.
