Yes, definitely, with patience and discipline and work, and a little bit of luck.

I have had COPD since 2004 (6?). At first I was very bad. Constant exacerbations rolling one after the other. I couldn’t get out of our flat as we were in a basement and I had to crawl up the stairs one by one. Then I was put on antibiotics and told to go to Pulmonary Rehabilitation. After that I got back into the gym and slowly started to improve. Even now my results are better year on year. I’m 72 and active. I cannot walk too far up hills but I’m ok on the flat. I go to the gym 3x a week and my breathing gets bad if I don’t exercise to me that is the secret. Exercise as much as you can and push yourself that little bit harder each time. I hope you improve with time.

James.

I have found the same. Exercise and being active is key to improving the quality of life, the more you do, the more you can do. But don't overreach yourself to start with, it doesn't happen overnight.

I agree. Be careful but be positive. Small changes can lead to larger changes in time.

Your question is a bit ambiguous. The damage done to your lungs doesn't repair itself if that's what you mean, but exercise and leading a healthy lifestyle can lead to teaching your body to use oxygen more efficiently. Your FEV1 can improve as a result. x

Hi it is unusual for COPD to improve although it can stand still, unfortunately that won't last. Take life easy don't push yourself too hard, exercise and eat the right foods.
