Hi everyone,

I am trying to get some sort of air conditioner/cooler for my mother that is really easy to use and does not need filling up with water etc. Does anyone else have any experiences with these devices and will they help her breathe.

I've got really confused.

I would be very grateful and welcome any help.

I have an air conditioner don’t need to fill with water it has a tube that needs to go out of the window when in use I bought it from currys £200 if her breathing is bad it will help keep one room cool when we have hot weather next week.

Take care

I have the dyson cooler/heater. I bought it mainly because the central heating dried my breathing. But oh boy, has it been brilliant over these hot weeks. The cool air can be positioned in many directions (as can the heating) and whilst it is expensive I think it worth every penny. Oh and whilst not totally silent it compares well with others.

Hi, before you go down this road and spend lots of money, try something very cheap like a small hand held fan powered by only batteries and require just a flick of the "on" switch.

These fans can be bought at Pound stores, Amazon & the like, depending on the make you will need either AA or AAA batteries, they will help breathing to some extent, you may find that you don't need vast expense. importantly they can be transported around unlike a fixed unit of heating or air conditioning. Well worth a try first for little outlay.

Ericwood has a good point. My community matron recommends a hand held fan for relief and think it would be worth trying before going on for long term expense. I can only say how satisfied I have been with this product (think you do need to know before buying).

Thank you, everyone, for your kind responses. I will probably try the hand held fan first, as my mother doesn't like the look of the air coolers/air conditioners (not very practical of her, but she has always been a bit like that)
