Best thing is to ask your doctor or nurse.

I agree check with your doctor about this. or BLF helpline maybe.

Ask must you wear them 24 /7 or are there times when its safe for you not put them on.

I was diagnosed with several PEs in March and am on Apibaxan 5mg a day for life. Never been told to wear compression socks after this occasion, but will do so on any travel lasting more than an hour, if only to save my ankles from swelling. Not flying anytime this year, but a couple of long coach trips planned. Had them on last year when travelling to Europe by coach, they were brilliant, but, as you say, hot, at least it saved me from any "nasties" at the time. I had PEs some years back and had to wear full length stockings for weeks, and it was a hot year! I would ask your Doctor or Hospital if you have a check up.

I try to keep my ankles from swelling and developing PE's by never erring socks. Also, never cross you legs and if you have to sit for a long time, move your feet as much as you can .....even the old military trick of when standing to attention, wriggle your toes inside your boots. If, during hot weather the start swelling, lie on your bed with your feet raised. Before trying any of these, talk it over with your doctor. The reSo for the compression stockings is that any clothing needs to cover both joints so even ladies support knee highs might be ok .
