Hi

Do you mean gas/elect smart meters. I have had them for a couple of years with no problems.

How do mean safe for us.

I don't think they are which is probably why there are so many protests about them being installed. Over in Ireland people have literally blocked roads to prevent installation (successfully). Worth researching anyway if you are concerned.

Yes I think I will, thanks for your reply.

If you are concerned about health safety, they are as likely or unlikely to harm you as your smart phone, wireless broadband connection, sat nav and any device that relies on similar technology if they are safe with regard to the privacy of the data collected re your energy consumption that is anybody's/hackers guess.....Skis and scruffs

I dunno really but sure there is information out there somewhere.

A couple of years ago Siemens came to fit one for my supplier First Utility. It wasn't possible because my meter area is too far away from my wifi. So it's not one size fits all - thank goodness!

British Gas keeps trying to install one in my house even though their fitters have said on two occasions that the meter is inaccessible - they won't pay to have the kitchen rebuilt after putting one in. I'm not keen on smart meters anyway, because they becomes useless if you change suppliers.

We have had one for about 20 months. So far so good. The only hiccup was if our gas meter was too far away from the electric meter, we have one on eachside of the property plus 16 inch thick stone walls to get the signal through.

We've got smart meters and changed supplier- they are still useful as I can still read the meter without going outside now- a bonus in cold weather

Could a smart meter impact my health?

Following Information from... smartenergygb.org/en/about-...

Janlyn1953 ...Hope this helps.

Info:

Public Health England sees no risk or dangers to health from smart meters. The smart meters used in Britain have undergone one of the most rigorous safety testing regimes and exceed every UK and EU safety standard.

What health and safety tests have been carried out on smart meters?

The smart meters used in Britain have undergone one of the most rigorous safety testing regimes in the world and exceed every UK and EU safety standard. Public Health England, the government's agency on public health, has said that exposure to radio waves from smart meters is well within guideline levels, and is many times lower than the exposure from wifi and mobile phones.

Best regards, John.

Hi there! Smart metres for our gas and electricity supply's:- we've had our one for just over 2 years and within that time, changed suppliers with no difficulty whatsoever. If you have an oxygen concentrator at home, tell your supplier and you can go on their "priority/high risk" list. I think actually having a chronic illness in itself may be classed as "priority" etc. Worth a quick call to see.

Yes Smart meters are bad for everyone , but it is those with chronic illness that are affected the most. A neighbor with COPD just had one put in several weeks ago , her condition has deteriorated rapidly , she now also has pleurisy. Its important to note Lloyds of London have refused to insure power companies for harm caused by Smart meters for good reason youtube.com/watch?v=PktaaxP...
