I have recently spent 8 weeks in hospital with pnuemona, infected abcess on my lung which has been removed leaving me with nerve damage, followed by plurisy and an infection that has attacked my white blood cells. (on antibiotics for 12 more weeks} and 3rd pericardium muscle is imflamed + lymph nodes in my throat.
Question is:
I want to get on with my life and get back to health as i am quite weak. Can I go to the gym and do cycling, treadmill and light weight

I think it’s a balance that has to be struck - for sure exercise helps us get well. And I so know what you mean about needing to get on with life . Lying in bed or sitting around slows my recovery from chest infections, beyond a certain point. But gym sounds like it might be a little bit premature at the moment. How about walking outdoors? Brisk as you can manage and gradually increasing the distance and speed you go each day? nice thing about walking is ist’s so flexible and we can just sit down and rest if we get pooped. Good luck! Let us know how you get on Frances
Hello Lynn
I understand you want your life back..
It would be better to discuss physical activity with your doctor..I would think gentle walking, getting fresh air, sitting outside, is a good start..baby steps..
