Does anyone know what a 7.8kPa means? Can it be converted to a pulse oximeter reading?

Thank you. I will wait until I see the consultant in Dec. rather than trying to figure it out myself. A lot of the stuff I read is way to technical for me to understand. X

Spo2 is always recorded as a percentage from a pulse oximeter. Whereas partial pressure of oxygen (PA02) is measured in kpa or mmhg these are not directly comparable. Blood gases will state both this is because the oxygen saturation will depend on the partial pressure of oxygen present in the red blood cells (Heamaglobin)...if you have been unwell this could raise or lower the kilopascal kph and everyone is unique in their own bodies fluids acids etc but if you need a full explanation of it being your results up with a consultant or maybe your GP can voice an explanation for you ...it could be your retaining too much Co2 which us with lung conditions tend to do sometimes hope that helps you some ...normal range is average of 7.35 and 7.45 ish hope that helps you some xx Angie xx have you had infection or just been generally unwell recently to have had the blood gases done if so I hope you feel better soon xx my guess is possibly 86 %

Thank you for the info., The girl who did the test said I was retaining some Co2 but nothing to worry about. I feel great actually but have a problem with oxygen levels falling to the low 80's at night and it's taken me 6 mths to find the right pathway to getting it sorted. I'm truly grateful to the people on this site - admin - and users for the help and support they give me. I go to see the consultant 8th of December and hope he will explain everything and find a solution to the low oxygen. X

Tenaj,Angie has given you very good advise and sound medical facts, but for your interest the cut off point for requiring home oxygen is normally 7.3kpa and below, your oxygen levels indicate well within the normal scale which i am sure your consultant will confirm..................regards skis and scruffy x

Thank you for your response, it's good to know that there are people out there who can, and will answer simple questions. It stops us fretting over something. Cheers. X
