Irma (Geraldine Chaplin), aged 342, wants to visit Earth, is willing to pay a small fortune, and hires two cruise-ship operators to take her there. Only problem: Earth was destroyed years ago. But that’s not going to stop unscrupulous Andrews (Benedict Wong) and conflicted Norton (Jack Reynor) from taking her “there”. A most moving meditation on love and memory, perhaps suggesting that the heart is where home is. Ali Catterall
Just watched this on channel 4 and can recommend it as thoroughly good 48 mins of viewing based on a Phillip k dick novel with a romantic twist.
It is sort of relevant to our situations in that with our conditions we all have a dream to return to a place that we loved be it mentally or physically or perhaps it is just skischool having a cerebral moment.it brought a tear to my eye which is quite hard to do.it is available on catch up tv or channel 4 player i believe.
best wishes.......................skis and unmoved cat

Glad you enjoyed the programme skis. Doesn’t appeal to me or Scruffy it seems. Xxx 😀👍🐈
Think I'm with scruffy. 🙂
I've enjoyed both episodes but was a bit puzzled at the ending last night. Were they dead? Were they dreaming/imagining? Felt really frustrated as the credits rolled!
in this adapted version this was an imaginary earth that they both longed for and yes they were dying having found this love that they both longed for.The original novel is different and they actually return to earth and you shall have to read the novel to get your own take on things.....................skis and non sci fi cat x
I've never read sci fi other than a binge on Isaac Asimov in the 70's ... oh and some Michael Moorcock but that was sci-fantasy but I enjoyed it as it was during my hippy trippy let's all live on a beach in Cornwall days So Mr.P.Dick is a new one to me - may read some of his during the winter months - will certainly watch the rest of the TV series
Don't worry Ski, the force is with you and you are definitely not alone.
My husband watched last night and was so enthralled, I had to look up every so often from the Sunday papers to enjoy his look of complete absorption. He missed last week's episode but from the initial announcement of the series, he'd been really looking forward to it. Obviously he's a big Phikp K Dick fan and I hope it's going to run for at least a few months to keep you all happy.
I'm not into SF at all, even my longtime heroine Margaret Atwood, lost me when she went all dystopian and post -apocalyptic. The Handmaid's Tale was fine, back at the start of her career but the last 12 years or so and the Mad Adam trilogy, left me longing for her to return to 'Earth as we know it.' Mind you she's making so much money from them, she'd be crazy to stop.
I'm looking forward to lots of TV entertainment in the upcoming months and love to get stuck in to a series I enjoy. I used to be like Scruffy but am now a firm convert to the joys of the box.
So here's to weekly enthralment with 'Electric Dreams' - enjoy !
Thank you BJ at least you didn't write it off ad lib and i am glad you got a hubby free break to absorb yourself in the Sunday papers. One mans meat is another mans poison as they say though on this occasion it was more love story than sci fi.
I think we probably have access to some of the best television programming in the world here in the UK,certainly enough for every conceivable taste in viewing.Long may you enjoy.........................skis and google eyed cat,x
