I always try to follow up as I always seem to fall through the cracks. It usually pays to follow up. I even tell them that I am use to people not doing their jobs correctly. I was recently upset with my PC doc. because she let a prescription expire that had to be approved by the insurance company which usually takes two weeks. She had also taken me off of my anxiety attacks at the same time. I started to panic and she wanted me to go in and discuss with her and I refused. I just called my lung doctor and he was upset and gave me another prescription for anxiety. The med that I ran out of is the one that keeps me out of the hospital.

Glad you managed to get it sorted. The trouble is, we're one of many patients to doctors, but we're the only one to ourselves.

Maybe so but we all are held accountable for our work. My stepfather was in the hospital once and I called up there to find out their prognosis they told me he was recovering fine after amputating both of his legs, I responded in shock why would you do that nothing was wrong with his legs. Luckily they just happened to have two patients with the same exact name. They just got the notes mixed up. Doctors should have a higher accountability whether they have one patient or more.

How awful. A GP had thought me to be a woman of the same name but 10 years older than me who was a hypochondriac and treated me very offhandedly for a hypertensive crisis. But that is nowhere in the same league as what happened to your stepfather.

It was pretty scary. He lived for many years later with both legs. At the end of his life though at the same hospital we took him to the hospital because he had a sore throat. I had to get special permission to take him to the bathroom hospital. My husband was with him there for 4 or 5 hours they sent him home and told him to come back on Monday. He died that weekend. Don't know from what. He did have diabetes but they didn't do a biopsy. I hope you ended up getting taken care of.
