Lama Laba medication

On going over to a Lama/Laba medication for the last month and taken off seretide after 8 years, (but had pretty awful exacerbation's this year for the first time ever)

I now find that my oxygen readings are averaging at 88, (they used to be about 92).

I don't know whether to keep going until my next hospital appointment in 2 months, or to move back to Seretide.

I also have the beginning of Urinary tract problem (side effect listed) and feel weak, but not particularly breathless

Hi

I would speak to your GP. Any reason for being taken of Seretide.

I change from Seretide to Fostair NEXTHaler my choice.

There are alternatives if one particular inhaler is not suitable. Though I have found speaking to my respitory nurse gets quicker results. No need to be in doubt for two months.

Thanks for your response. The change is following the NICE guidelines as an inhaled steroid is no longer flavor of the month. My GP's are not interested in my lung condition, except for dolling out Rescue Packs. They say "go back to the Brompton" on this medication issues.

ps - what is the advantage of the Fostair inhaler over Seretide - seems to contain same combination?

Hi

The active ingredients are different, Seretide made my chest tighten. Active ingredient Salemeterol.

Fostair Avtive ingredient Beclometasone.

Steroid inhalers are indeed less favoured now. But they are pretty much the only thing that works if your copd has a severe asthma component as well.
