Happy mothering Sunday
Lovely picture and Happyt Mothers Day to you x
Happy mother's day to you too Angie. 🌞🌞🌞 XXX
I like the proper name of Mothering Sunday, Mothers Day sounds a bit commercial. Can't beat the daffodils for a splash of colour to cheer us up after the winter.
I'd put Mothering Sunday on my reply to you before I'd read this. I agree with you but can live with either. The chapel in the village has for ages done little bunches of flowers for everyone (no discrimination here) so I am looking at mine. Secretly I have to own up that it was me that started the tradition. And I'm glad that it is so lost in the mists of time that no one would remember that and assumes that it something that has happened for ever, way before I moved into the village. I like starting traditions like that. The same with the Advent Wreath and coffee and biscuits after the service.

Our church gives out little bunches of flowers on Mothering Sunday too, to anyone who would like them for their mother or wife, or neighbour. Lovely tradition I hadn't come across before moving to Cheshire.
Yes. Not sure when it started. I think it's been going in Anglican churches for a while. Forty years maybe? Mothering Sunday can be tricky and when I do it I take care to be sensitive: there are those whose relationship with their mothers was not good, there are those who would have loved to have been mothers, there are those who have lost children. So, bit of a minefield. And we give flowers to everyone, men and women. Our numbers are so small that it's not a problem.
I think of you playing the organ on Sunday mornings and the other musical things you do for people.
Keep at it.
