Melvyn Aged 70 COPD
Hi Melvyn and welcome to the forum.
Someone will be on soon, that is on oxygen.
You've had COPD for a long time and it's always good to meet people like you, that prove we can live a long time with this awful disease. Your input on this forum will be invaluable. xx
Hi
Oxygen therapy is by assessment, arterial blood gases test for long term oxygen therapy and for ambulatory oxygen therapy a six minute walk test .
Oxygen is only prescribed to protect your major organs rather than breathlessness.
Your level need to be constantly below 88%.
If you need oxygen treat like any other medication
Have a chat with your respiratory nurse who can arrange for any assessment that you may require.
See your respiratory nurse, she will give you good advice. Thirty years of COPD that is some achievement. I think Sir, you should be advising us!
