Human nature never

ceases to amaze me. Observing it makes me realise how close we are to our nearest relatives the great apes.

I rarely shop on Saturday because of the crowds and i do have lots of time in the week. But today I went to my local Tesco which is a huge outlet. After driving round the car park like a lost sheep looking for somewhere to park I eventually went shopping.

Very crowded but I was eventually in the queue waiting for checkout.

On the next aisle an altercation broke out between a man and a women about who was first in the queue. What happened next is what I believe is known as trolley war.

The man called the women a fat slag she reciprocated with f......g c...

More of these bon mots were passed back and forth.

then the doodah hit the fan. She rammed his trolley almost tipping it over. He in turn rammed her trolley. It was like a couple of knights on the jousting field. Things were settled when a Tesco employee opened a new aisle and the man dashed in right at the front and shouted back at the women 'that's the way to do it you stupid cow'

Wonderful entertaining stuff...I may go again next Saturday.

People are funny - you like observing human nature and so do I yet we don't appear to have anything in common coz I don't find bad behaviour at all entertaining and would go out of my way to avoid it.

Magpuss Gosh - how awful - It must be a City thing.

'Tis a pity living in the countryside and only having the local post office come grocery store to shop in.

We have a small supermarket, a post office, two butchers, two greengrocers, a flower shop, a small bakery shop (baked on the premises) plus beauty parlours and a choice of four hairdressers, two small gift shops and the usual estate agents etc but no hardware shop, no crowds, no hustle and bustle or buses and heavy traffic going through the village centre. Pity me if you will, I'm happy!

Such a shame there are not more places like yours Magpuss. We have to travel to a large town as our village shop has shut and the nearest small town is full of such shops which have closed down. I would love to live in a village or small town where I could walk to all the shops I need.

I agree, too many small communities have lost their shops, post offices and schools. We're very lucky in that respect 'probably' because we're close enough to the city to commute or catch a train without having to drive far.

Pity, it can be quite entertaining. You are certainly right that we appear to have nothing in common.

I thought Mary Whitehouse was her own worst enemy, with a less po faced, preachy manner she may have made a more acceptable impression. I can't fault her predictions on which way things were going tho'. Of course, back then I was a lot younger so I tended to laugh at her, along with the rest of my generation. Never thought of her as a bigot tho' just a woman with strong convictions - and the guts to state them.

Gus,

I think it's sad that people can behave in this way. What would have happened if the first person had given in to the other. Perhaps the other perosn would even have thanked the first person for his/her kindness!

I do my shopping online.I'm glad not to see this! Mic

Gus,

These days I pull the older woman with an oxygen tank in tow in supermarket trolley rage stakes that usually smooths over ruffled egos in the trolley line. If that does not work, a few choice expletives learnt at a very young age at my mother's knee, mum being born and bred at Dockhead you can guess when riled her language was quite colourful but she taught me to stand up for myself. I find that a older woman wheezing like I'm on 40 a day with a cannula stuck up my nose does not work, an older woman, wheezing like she's on 40 a day who can swear like a fish wife but in a posh accent usually confuses most people and I can keep my rightful place in the queue.

I love my late mum, she taught me to stand on my own two feet and never get shocked by things thrown in my way.

Cheers

Sue

Terrible behaviour which would never have happened if the woman had seen sense and let the man go first. (or was it the man letting the woman go first?)
