Hi, a quick question about alveoli (I think that's how you spell it) Apparently exercise can increase lung volume, if this is true then wouldn't that mean an increase in alveoli part of the lungs also ? and if so how would that effect COPD sufferers ?

Thank you in advance.

Hi

Exercise is used to tone your muscle and loosen joints, so they require less oxygen, or use available oxygen more efficiently. This will increase your mobility and your lifting abilities.

A bit like when you give your car a service, it's uses less fuel.

I think it's that when the aveioli are damaged they cannot repair or increase in any way.any damage to them is permenant.excersize is to increase the muscle wall strength nothing connected to the aveioli unfortunately .
