Hello Everyone

I have been asked to post details of the following research trial which some of you may be interested in.

Please use the contact details below if you have any questions about the trial or if you would like to take part.

The Theophylline With Inhaled Cortico-Steroids in COPD (TWICS) has recruited its 1000th patient. The TWICS trials team consists of primary and secondary care specialists and have been delighted at the enthusiasm from patients and research teams across the UK. The trial needs around 400 more patients to be recruited. The trial will tell us all if a simple, well known and inexpensive drug, when added to standard care in COPD, can reduce exacerbations or flare ups.

The TWICS trial is recruiting patients across the UK - from Torquay to Inverness. If you would like to take part, find out more about the study or where your nearest TWICS centre is, please email on twics@abdn.ac.uk, telephone 01224 438178 or 01224 438089.

You can also find out more about the study at w3.abdn.ac.uk/hsru/twics/

Thanks

Mark

Interesting. Was put on Theophylline after pneumonia earlier this year. Unfortunately gave me terrible tremors. So much so that I could not hold a cup to my mouth. Had to stop but was told it's known to affect quite a few people that way. Even tried reduced dose in Slophylline but no difference. Let's hope the trial is a success for at least some.
