Hello everyone x I have just joined here , and trying to find my way around . I am struggling to come to terms with lung disease , and I'm feeling a bit lost ,
I'm a newbie: Hello everyone x I have... - Lung Conditions C...
I'm a newbie
Hello Dizzy,I have very severe Copd emphysema in both lungs, have recently improved my lung function,Fev1 by 3% up from 20 to 23%.That was by eating properly and exercising as much as I could,so it,s not all down hill.We here are all pretty much in in the same boat, some not as severe as me and a few a wee bit worse. We will help and support you as much as we can. Please feel free to ask us any thing you want to know about ,one of us has probably experienced any problem you might have to deal with. The very first thing to do is ,if you smoke stop as smoking will make your condition worse really quickly,if you stop you can probably control it to the extent you could live almost normal ( whatever that is lol ) life.So work out some questions for us ,looking forward to helping you feel better.D.
Hi Dizzy and welcome to the Community. Why not write a Profile or at least a post telling us about yourself and your health issue. How it affects you and what concerns you have about this latest phase of your life?
There are people here with every variety of breathing problem and at all levels of progression. There is a strong likelihood that there are people who share just where you are. Equally there will be people who are able to help you look realistically at what lays ahead and how to get the very best out of life.
Kind regards, Rib
Hi Dizzy I was diagnosed in July and like yourself really struggling to come to terms with it ? I have to be strong and keep positive thoughts
Thanks Lesley
Hi Dizzy4, welcome to the site. Think most of us on here will have had same feelings as you are going through right now. The biggest hurdle is coming to terms with your illness, learning to manage it and accepting it is most likely going to be long lasting. All these things take time to come to terms with, many people find relief from talking to others. Feel free to ask any questions I know there are many on here who can speak from experience including myself. I have COPD by the way (moderate). Hope to see you again in the coming days, enjoy the autumn sun and have a good weekend.
Hi Dizzy and welcome to our lovely forum. I think most of us struggle when first diagnosed, but it does get easier, you can still live and love life even with Copd! Just post anything that's worrying you and someone will be along to help. Take care xx
hi dizzy welcome to the site if you have any questions just put a post on or you can search in the box at top right of page take care
Hi Dizzy and welcome.
Sorry to hear you have lung issues. You don't say what condition you have. Please don't get too downhearted - it's early days for you and you must be overwhelmed. Get to know as much as you can about your condition and you can then make sure you get the best treatment from your medics.
Ask anything - there is always someone about to help and support you. The only silly question on here is the one you don't ask.
love cx
Hi Dizzy 4 , welcome to the clang, I think like all of us you will find this cite a great benefit. I have only got COPD. But struggle at times as there are so many things I can,t do now... When I am down in the dumps I just share a good old moan, it,s nice to know there are folk around who understand, so just stick in there... 😀
Hi Dizzy, it will get easier when you get over the initial shock and distress. Coming here was a smart move: you'll get lots of support and useful information from others who are in the same boat.
Hi there, I was initiially diagnosed by the weekend gp with copd back in march, and told i had 65% lung capacity. I havent smoked for 10 years although I had smoked for the previous 30 before that! I had spirometey tests which I knew at the time I had failed miserably.
Two months later, after treatment with seritide inhaler, I was told this time by the nurse,it wasnt copd but asthma, which is far more reversible. (Im left feeling confused and wondering whether it matters about the diagnosis? If anyone out there wd like to comment, please do). Anyway, it could be that u havent lung disease but asthma, in which case its very treatable with good results. So try not to worry about the future.
Hi Dizzy, welcome to this fabulous forum. I have been here for a month or so. I have severe asthma. Ask anything you want, rant, tell a joke. Everyone here is really friendly. Lots have been where you are. You couldnt want for a more informative friendly and supportive group of new friends. Good luck.xx
Thank you judith
