Hi, Alice

I used to go to Egypt regularly - even with copd - and all I can say is that you can try to find as much shade as possible and, when you're not on the beach, stay away from the DUST as much as possible. I always found the dust was a bigger problem than the heat. Finding a place with a/c solves both problems. Finding a place with a/c that serves iced drinks, must be therapeutic ! Oh, and always choose the cleanest cab. The guy who regularly cleans his cab also makes sure that his air-intake filter is dust-free.

I'm an Egyptologist Alice and the heat there has never bothered me despite spending hours under the sun. I have severe COPD and am 73, so you have age on your side as well.

Just take it slowly, especially (as I suspect) you'll be visiting some historical sites. Some of them entail quite a long walk to reach them, and the VK/VQ are quite hilly. Wear a big hat, keep the sun off the back of your neck and drink PLENTY of water (bottled.)

Have a lovely time. XX

Good morning alice14. You will love Egypt. The Valley of the Kings is just amazing, but lots and lots of walking, also loads of stairs going down into the tombs and of course climbing back out, wouldn't recommend going into the pyramids.lots of stairs to climb and you have to crawl in some places, and while you are going up. There are people coming down, very claustrophobic. We loved the country and I am sure you will.Best wishes,Bulpit

Good morning Bryju. We had insurance from different companies when we travelled. There are loads of insurance companies, just google a few, then ring and get quotes. Age concern were very good. If you have health problems it becomes more difficult to get insurance, but there is always a company that will cover you,( for a price).Wherever you are going have a wonderful, safe holiday.regards Bulpit..

Thank you Bulpit your post is very reassuring. I wasnt planning on going down pyramids as i have also heard they are claustrophobic. We are waiting to hear from Thomsons about safety so fingers crossed. Thanks again Bulpit
