Another Day...

Another sunny day...it dawned on me...not for the first time either...that if I spent less time dithering and looking stuff up on the internet I'd get much more actually done.

But I read tutorials on how to do stuff and that leads to searching through the images and then I get totally side-tracked and find I'm wondering who it was who made the looms for weavers...the weavers who worked from home I mean.

They're there in census returns but I have yet to come across a person who made the looms, only rarely find a carpenter actually.

I put an entire branch of a family tree down yesterday...cousins and Aunties and sister-in-laws...all manner of people. Looked again this morning and realised it was a total load of cobblers...haven't taken them off yet...didn't have the energy.

And the dresser...it isn't finished because I'm going to grit my teeth and fill all the feckin' gaps between the wood on the top bit...did the bottom and it's made such a difference but thought I could get away with not doing the top...it doesn't look very nice though...the gaps are too obvious. Funny how they weren't noticeable when the dresser was a sort of murky brown varnish...now I've painted it in Natural Cream all those gaps are waving at me...

That mantra kept going through my head...'if a jobs worth doing, it's worth doing well'

I cleared out all my itchy jumpers and cardigans...all bought for pennies from Charity shops mind you because I liked the colour or some-such reason...stuffed them into bin bags for Himself to take to the Charity shop in town...debating the vast collection of tights now...I wear a skirt once in a blue moon but appear to have a drawerful of bright stripey tights...sitting there sort of festering. Might keep the thick bottle green ones 'cos they're comfy but the others are far too big since I've joined the ranks of the not obviously disabled...I've shrunk, like having been in the hot wash too many times...

A friend of mine is of the opinion we all have too many clothes...she's a true advocate for the three of everything...one to wear...one in the wash and one spare...just as well she's never ventured into my drawers.

Going to cut some chives to go on my salad for supper...

Hoping you are as well as can be...

Got to agree on a couple things here, I too get side tracked easily, but I think it is because I do too many things at once,so trying to pace myself better.

We do have far too many clothes,I have various items in my wardrobe that still have price tags on that I bought last year,or even before, after all I don't venture anywhere much so don't get round to wearing lots of the clothes I buy, I can't see the point in wearing what I class as good clothes to sit about in,or to do housework,or gardening.

So I am not going to buy any clothes for the rest of this year anyway. I do go through my wardrobe on a regular basis and clear out what I no longer use.

I don't often buy brand new clothes...but still seem to have far too many...at least we'll be prepared if we're invited out to a posh tea somewhere...lol

I have been sorting out my old clothes too....12 pairs of assorted trousers that wil not fit my steroid tum anymore...they were festering in layers in the wardrobes and drawers that I have taken over since the kids left home. And three beige blouses you will be glad to hear...back to the charity shop from whence they came.

Like redted I don't like wearing good clothes at home ...and don't go out much...but spend ages browsing the websites.

Got a couple of bright loose tops in the charity shop too ...I am trying to find cool trousers with no luck as I was wandering round last week in my PJ s.i did try on a skirt but I am not lady like enough

As to tights...any one want American Tan ones ...again lurking in the depths

Thanks again for the post

You don't still have American Tan tights surely to goodness...! You could probably donate them to a museum...☺◙

I hope the family tree which you spent so much time on - and which proved to be a waste of time - wasn't MY family tree 😀😉😉 Jan xx

Oh me too - things 'lurk' in the bottom of my wardrobe for years. Xmas wrapping paper, half a bottle of brandy, far too many coat hangers, at least 6 pairs of trousers ALL the same colour (!) - they're all 2 sizes too big as well, dresses which I like but still have never worn, bags, scarves, spare medicine ....... ugh .... keep opening it and then quickly shut the door again. So need a sort out! I'm glad I'm not the only one.... lol!

I get sidetracked but then again , it could be called being fluid & letting the day take it,s own shape, despite careful planning to order it. I like the planning as long as it,s flexible enough to give me exploration time. It sometimes drives Dave nuts, he likes life in carefully, ordered straight lines. Not me. I think its a case of opposites attracting. I like the journey, in no hurry to get to he destination...

Clothes, I agree we all have too many, now I have lost 2 stone, i keep having to sort them out for charity shops but sometimes i like the look or touch of a material, so i leave it, knowing one day a more ruthless practical mood, will see me sort it out.

i found a carpenter in my family tree, circa 17 something or other. He lived in Hampshire & made the new font in the church. He was also a churchwardon, a woman gave birth to a child and had to name the father, who denied paternity, they had a sort of trial of the facts, likelyhood, accessability etc. It was decided he was the father & he had to pay money for the upkeep of the child to the orphanage. Don't work too hard. Love Margaret x

You always strike me as being such a wise lady Margaret...wise and kind.

Wonder why the mother didn't keep the baby...

Thankyou. I think she would have been unable to keep her child, poor woman, i wonder how she supported herself. Love Margaret x

I love going in charity shops. On Friday went to Leigh with my hubby and our eldest daughter. Had some lunch and went hunting for bargains. I was pleased to come back with a pair of M&S trousers that look brand new in short fit . also bought 2 tops, and a lovely duvet cover. Total spend £6. Well pleased. At one time I would not have gone in any second hand shops but nobody seems to care any more. I will be donating 3 winter coats I have 'outgrown' in a few weeks.

Nobody does bother now you know...I've bought some lovely clothes for just a couple of euro and once found a perfect pure wool blanket!

So much more satisfying than browsing through stores selling designer brand clothing.
