Having bought a finger Oximeter to measure my husbands levels - I find I gave just increased my worry level... With the measurements I have taken 91, 90 and 89 I googled and read that these are not good and will cause damage. These were taken with him resting so god knows what they are when he's moving.
The up date so far on his on going lung problems are he had another ct scan last night - two weeks for results, still await appointment for ENT appointment for polyp found when doing bronchoscope - 6 weeks ago!! And have appointment at end of May for breath test. So really since his hospitalisation after Christmas we really are no further forward in getting answers to why he is still coughing up do much mucus and is breathless. The only result we have had showed from the biopsy on the lung he has had streptococcus pneumonia.
Do feel that this is how it's going to be now just constant worry and waiting for results.

Thanks for your replies - this site is wonderful - when you feel out on your own with problems. My husband isn't on any oxygen and perhaps that should be the next avenue.

Your husband's oximeter readings are about the same as mine. I have oxygen here to use on an as needed basis when I'm very sob but do not need it on a daily basis.
Try not to stress about the results. It won't change whatever they are. All stressing will do is prevent you from living peacefully. The results will be whatever they are, stressing will neither change nor improve them.
I trust your husband is on antibiotics for his bacterial pneumonia. If so he will improve. A positive attitude by you will help your husband cope with his present condition. I wish you both well and hope your husband has a rapid improvement.

I have found it useful to monitor my husbands levels - he would say he was breathless and sometimes I wouldn't believe him ( naughty of me) so it just helps to keep an eye on the levels. Also for next visit - when an appointment arrives - to see his chest specialist I can up date him .
Hi, when mine goes to low for comfort I can usually bring it back with breathing exercises. Plenty of demonstrations on YouTube . Look up diaphragm breathing and pursed lip breathing for whe SOB. All the best
Just sending this to wish you well and hoping that your husband gets the results soon and you can start moving forward, I know only too well what its like to be in a state of worry not knowing what is going on and waiting for appointments etc (I think we are both in the same health care area) it takes forever!
He is under Maidstone hospital but the chest specialist - who I think is a locum but has worked with prof. Denning and seemed to know about aspergillosis is now at Pembury - he did give me his number and has said we can stay with him and attend pembury - which was a little reassuring . Half the frustration is seeing different specialists and having to go over the history of his illness - why they can't read up for ten mins before they see a patient I don't know! All down to time I suppose.

I think you should take it with you to the next doctor's appointment and have them use theirs and yours at the same time and see first off it is accurate as it is possible it may not be.
Many things can also effect the readings including movement cold hands as well as other things. It can also take up to 30 seconds for the reading to stabilize so make sure it is on for an adequate period.
Usually I put mine on and it is 95-97 almost immediately but have other days I put it on and it is at 92 and within 20-30 seconds it is back up to 95-97.
Perhaps you are aware of all these things but thought I would mention just in case. Again I think the first thing is to verify that it is actually accurate.
