This is brilliant - please tell us the story behind it :)

Oh, I wish I knew! Can only guess it may have been Southend or Margate, and a photographers innovative idea. After the war my uncle Albert, on the left in the photo, emigrated to Toronto with his wife and two daughters, one of whom I am in contact with. I wish I had asked about so many things, I guess that is common, though. glad you like the photo, keep well, Iris x

I felt the same Iris. So that my kids don't suffer the same problem I am writing my life story and what I can remember of my family's history, warts and all. It isn't intended for publication just as a reference for the kids in future.

My husband is doing the same but has neglected his memoirs recently. I think he remembers his early days better than the more recent ones, or perhaps after we got married it was not so memorable!

the great thing about that is you can think all sorts of stories to go with this fab shot. Very handsome lads and one very pretty gal with such a bonny 'you' ..... puts me in mind of P T Barnum and the Circus :) lovely and thank you for sharing xxx

My mum was beautiful, even into old age. she lived to 91 and still received compliments then. My dad could be jealous! But as far as I know she was never unfaithful.

Well I think I was dressed in the scraps don't you? I'm still fussy about what I wear!

the photo is almost disintegrating , ought to get it restored I think.

YOu can do this with a computer and a good photo programme. anyone around you who can do this worthwhile and easy exercise - even erase the tears in the photo.

:-) Iris this is an amazingly beautiful, historic photo. Where was this, Canada? Your mum seems to hold a lasso. what does your brother hold? This is really lovely.

sorry to spoil the illusion Mic, this is probably at Southend or Margate at one of those photographic studios that allowed you to dress up. It's my uncle on the left, my dad's brother. I'll see if I can get the photo restored, I think they are all holding a lasso. wish I had talked to Mum about it. Many of our family photos were lost during the war. Our house was looted after being damaged in an air raid, drawers were tipped out in the street, very upsetting. Hope you're well. Iris x
