I really like that painting, mavary. Did you paint it??
Yes! I did paint it. I have painted three different ones. All of robins. A few years ago there were some wall plates for sale with these pictures on them. I was so impressed I thought I would like to turn them into pictures. I never bought the plates but cut the pictures out to copy. I love drawing and painting but this is the first painting I have done for a few years. It keeps me busy. When I can get them the right way up I will put the others up. I thought it would brighten someone's day a bit. X
You're so clever Mavis. Its gorgeous...even on its side (giggling). Love this. xxx
I still can't get it right. I am seeing Stu tomorrow and if I remeber I will ask him if he can remedy it. At least it's not upside down this time. X
Hi
The usual reason is picture size.
Can you resize by pixels, if you can try 350X350 for portrait.
For landscape try 600X400
Keep adjusting and redit your post.
Just re click "image"and choose a different picture, the new image will appear in place of the current one.
Hi Stone. I've got the picture on my I Pad. I've looked at the functions I have but can't find anything to make it smaller. Me and technology are rubbish. X
Hi
I am using I-Pad. Download " crop size" from App Store
It is the one I used to change your picture.
Hi
The photo app allows you some alterations, click your image then click edit, there are a selection of tools on the left hand side.
At the top left there is a rotation icon.
You will still have to resize using a third party app.
I normally use the photo app to crop and rotate, then " crop size" to resize for further use.
this is really beautiful and captures the scene
Great painting Mavis and something we could all see outside our windows, A Robin in the snow surrounded by snowdrops.
Its good to see you've started painting again and shared it with the healthunlockeders.

Wow that is really good! Didn't know you could paint like that. You have a lot of talent, x
That is lovely and would make a beautiful Christmas card. x
yes it really is very good mavary, you really are very talented , it looks amazing ,, jimmy xxx
Great painting mavis, iwish i could paint something recognizable. Lome mx
Thanks all. I thought I would share something I love doing. I haven't done any for so long as other things seem to get in the way. The dark evenings and boring things on the TV have me back painting. X
Lovely picture Mavary, you are very talented, I love Robins they are so friendly and hang about when any gardening is going on! I've been dabbling as well, its a great way to pass some time! Thank you for brightening my day, huff xxx
Love it Mavery, a perfect winter winter scene and just right for a Christmas card. Robins are my all time favourite birds. You are very talented as water colouring can be so tricky.
I checked in my little garden after seeing your picture and found five little snowdrops ready to pop out. I was so pleased.! I planted a bulb I found when I moved here 30 years ago and it always produces every year! xx
Great painting Mavis, robins are my favourite little birds, xx Sonia xx
Wow! I feel jealous. That is fantastic, the best I can manage is a match stick men.
Painting is something I've always wanted to do. what are the essentials to get started? Hope that's not a silly question.
What have you used to make the picture water colours oil or crayon?
Very nice by the way.
Hi Offcut. I used water colours. I used to think they were hard to use but I now prefer them. X
You can control shading better. When I tried I liked it but every now and then if I mixed it all seemed to go brown
Hi Offcut. I have painted on and off for years. As a child if you gave me a colouring book I would be quiet for hours. That and reading would occupy me for hours. Learning to mix colours does come to you the more you do. Mix your colours before you use them and try them on a bit of spare paper. I am basically self taught. I did go to a couple of evening classes and I learned the right paper to use and to use good paints rather than cheap ones. It doesn't hurt to start with cheap ones though. When you get better invest in better ones. I hope you're going to have a go. Happy painting. X
My Wife did a great copy of " The Scream" with the children's crayons many years ago and it was really good but has not done any thing since. Which was a shame as it was so good!
Beautiful painting you must be very proud of it
That's really lovely clever you
Hi all. Many thanks for your lovely comments. You have given me inspiration to do some more painting. Xxx
I'd be very proud if I could paint as well as you do. I think I will have a go - what else can we do in a long cold winter? I do knitting, scrabble on line, crosswords - anything but housework! Oh, and reading. Looking forward to Wolf Hall on TV tonight, I have read that. Make a cake now and again, too. when it's warmer the garden will need a tidy up. If the arthritis will allow it!
Hi Lyd12. If you enjoy painting stick with it as you will get better each picture you do. I enjoy making puzzles as well. I have some Thomas Kinkade ones. They keep me going through the winter as well. X
