Appointment with specialist today.

Christmas consisted of 2 weeks laid low with chest infection. My second one.. Cleared up with Prednisolone. GP suggested seeing a respiritory specialist a short while before that.

I knew I had severe COPD, Peripheral vascular disease and severe hypertension. The latter is good now with ramipiril and verapamil. No heart issues, so thats a positive.

Nurse reclassed me as very severe COPD now. Not good. dropped some inhalers A steroid one Symbacotin?? and a See-Brezi inhaler, replaced these with a new Swiss inhaler which is said to be much better. Lots more tests etc, spiro at 25%. Was with nurse about an hour, then straight into next room ( well after 15 mins while he read up nurses notes) to see the specialist doctor. Discussed lots of issues and he arranged for me to have Xray and body scan, then to hospital to see if I am suitable for lung reduction. Quite a bit to take in.

Last Friday went to see Gastro-rectal specialist at a local hospital......He too wants a body scan and an xray to determine what happens next.

Still, can`t complain,, I am getting to travel and meet new people I suppose.

Not really taken it all in yet.....sort of emotional inertia about it all....................................................................

Oh not good stree. On the plus side your doctor is taking you seriously and referring you so that has got to be good. I hope the new inhaler works well. And let's hope you are suitable for lung surgery. Stay strong and lots of hugs xx

At least they are giving you all the tests you need and looking at suitable treatments etc. Of course you'll feel very emotional - it's all very tiring and stressful, but you're still staying positive so keep up the good work and hopefully there'll be a good outcome at the end of it all. Best wishes. xx

No wonder you're exhausted,so much to take in! How lucky that you have a good Doctor, whom is Obviously interested in you.Sounds like you're in good hands.

What is the name of your new puffer,if you don't mind me asking?

Best of luck with it all,do let us know how you get on xx

The new inhaler is Anoro Ellipsa 55/22 once daily. Approved May 2014

Read a few papers on it and sounds very hopeful.

Lousy night last night, spent all night doing controlled breathing......Had no effect.

Decided to get up about 8 and see if breathing was easier upright........................Got as far as sitting up straight in bed.............Managed to get my daughters attention and just managed to say "ambulance"..............I had given up on the sambutycol blue inhaler, not having any effect, but knew I had another part used in the bedside cabinet...Managed to get it and tried a shot..Immediate relief!! The other inhaler had become ineffective. Quickly alerted my daughter tha no ambulance needed and she was still online with them and cancelled....Felt much better all day. Took my new prescription to Doctors ( They have an in house pharmacy and deliver once week) and was told the sambutycol does become useless after the date on the cartridge . It was in the bin anyway. Fortunately there was a twin pack of them ready for delivery to me tomorrow, so stocked up for now.

Not a pleasant experience at all, but much better now.

Thanks for that! So sorry to hear of you having a bad night though, but glad you were able to access the right inhaler,it is a warning to always look at the use by date! Hope today is better for you xx
