Just received my results for Alpha 1 Antitrypsin level. It has come back as 0.75 g/l - does anyone know what this means?

I was recently diagnosed with severe emphysema and a 5mm nodule has been found on my lung.

I have looked on the site that stilltruckin recommended (what this woman doesn't know isn't worth knowing) and as far as I can see your results are normal good luck .

I'm not a doctor but a low level (I don't know what constitutes a low level) effect the quality of a lining in the lungs and intern one can have a host of other ailments. I think it is heredity. Like I said I am not a doctor and my knowledge is just by memory of something I read or heard about. I have emphysema (previously was a big cigaret smoker) and I have COPD as well as central sleep apnea. Maybe others can add to what I wrote or correct me.

I recently was diagnosed with severe emphysema and tested for alpha 1, my eldest son and grandson tested positive for it, convinced it was me so was tested for it however it came back negative so now hubby has to be tested. Feeling loads better though since been on azithromycin. Hope everything works out for you take care :)
