I have been diagnosed with bronchiectasis and am learning to manage it. I seem prone to many colds. Do you know if echinacea is ok to take?

Thanks! I will try it. Currently I am waking every 3 hours then up for about an hour coughing and sneezing. If I can cut down the number of colds I am hoping that this might help. How often do you take it?

Every day I would take it from Sept on-wards, its helps boost the immune system so reports tell us, of course if you take any other hard drugs always best to check with your pharmacist if its works well together, I don't take any Meds and it seems good, even give it to my teens as well.. In France they use it daily as well.

Also when I have colds I take 1000 mg of Vit C am and pm as my system is down and needs a good boost..Get strong soon.

It is clinically proven that it makes no difference whatsoever. Same with the Vitamin C, so don't waste your money on being conned.

Hi scragg, my sis-in-law is a natural prone person. I went there on a visit and had a chest infection. The poor lady gave me some drops and put some in a burner. UNfortunately, it may help, but you fo need AB to deal with bugs like pseudomonas and pneumonia that people with bronchiectasis get.

For me, a cold is a no-go area because it soon develops into something nastier. Echinacea is lovely, but acts slowly. I would be dead if I only relied on echinacea.

Try Vicks First Defence nasal spray if you feel a cold coming on. Says it's " proven" to prevent colds and just a couple of days ago people on here backed that up.

Thanks. I will give it a go. Currently I am in the middle of another cold so probably won't work on this one as too late!
