Hi Aldi, yep I agree with cookster. The staff will let you know what will happen which is you lie down, you are moved forward into the 'tube' and follow instructions about breathing on, holding breath etc. It is totally painless and does not take long. Let the staff know if you are feeling nervous or have any concerns then they will be able to support you.

All the best

Lesley

Thanks for that lesley, like I just said to cookster more curious about the"why I'm having it done but I guess it's just another way to see how you're doing. I had a chest x-ray when I was in hospital a cpl of weeks ago with a Lung infection, so hopefully it's nothing to serious! Oh and its "Aidi"not"Aldi"lol:-).Anyway you take care of yourself x :-)

Hi Aidi, Had this scan for stomach problems and also for lungs at a later date. It is often done to make sure they have covered everything, especially in the lungs. I had the lung one done every six months for three years for nodules on the lungs. They were stopped last June because I'd had my quota of radiation. Doc said I'd be glowing if I had any more! Good luck anyway. Sara

The scans started after I came out of hospital after having double pneumonia twice. Lots of xrays and tests too. I already had moderate copd so was very worried too.

It's hard not to worry about these things but you'll be relieved when it's over. They don't usually tell you the results the same day but send it to your doc or consultant. Take care. Sara.

Mine was just a routine scan to see if there has been any progression of emphysema in the last 3 months ..... No results as of yet
