Live long and prosper Spock - it's great that he has gone public with this. The rich and famous still tend to keep it secret as though it is something shameful. Recent 'secret COPD'ers' were Phil Everly and Richard Briers. I wonder how many more there are or have been? It's really sad when people hide it - sad for them and sad for the world wide COPD community. Strange that HIV / AIDS has managed to shake off much of its stigma in just the few decades it has existed - yet COPD is still considered to be 'just desserts' - a form of vengence delivered upon those who may have smoked - or not. So it's a big thank you from me MR.Spock - and big respect x

I don't want to come over as being mean but now someone famous has come out with this COPD will be widely known I remember the actress out of coronation street Vera she had COPD ? and she did a programme on different medication that was on the market.
You are right, it is such a shame that we are judged and our illness is seen as punishment, there are a few of the cancers caused by smoking but no one judges. Health advisors are predicting that COPD will in the next ten years or so,be the second highest killer in the world. Maybe the attitiude will change then. But I really hope they find a cure, I would not wish COPD on anyone .
