yes, I have stopped smoking ( a year ago now), and have found Ecigs have helped me a great deal. I have copd, and to be honest I don't know if ecigs are safe to use, doctors are reluctant to advise you because ecigs haven't been approved by the government, I haven't had any effects, except for a dry throat, but I don't cough and have felt so much better stopping smoking. There are for and against ecigs, so you have to use your own discretion I guess. I hope this might be helpful to you. All the best.

Hi, I stopped smoking with e cigs about a year ago, i was using them soo much more than cigarettes tho and getting far too much nicotine, after three weeks of stopping e cigs i got bronchitis and i heard other people had same thing. I stopped smoking for about 4 weeks now using patches and crave spray from smoking cessation nurse, i accepted it will make my enpheseme soo much worse, my lung test has improved by 6 percent after just 4 weeks of stopping smoking. I hope u try this and best of luck Jane x

They do still contain nicotine so you are not getting rid of your addiction therefore more likely to revert to cigarettes, also they do contain heavy metals I have been told, such as mercury for gods sake! I have used them, but find myself wanting a real cigarette so much I fall right back into smoking. I have been on a course of Champix and can honestly say they have helped me a lot, 3 months free now (touch wood) but still craving as I type LOL.

my partner stopped smoking through using nicotine mini lozenges (he had already cut down quite a lot by the time he was diagnosed with copd). his thinking was that the e cigs would not get him out of the behaviour of puffing on a cigarette. he has stayed off in spite of being a real addict but he is carrying on with the lozenges and is not trying to get off them. i have read a fair bit about them and they don't seem to have any negative health effects so for him its a good solution. apparently about one in twenty people carry on with nicotine replacement long term.

Try using a low nicotine e cig. I use 10 motives. I feel so much better since I stopped smoking 6 mths ago. Give them a try.

If you can afford it spend £250 on hypnotherapy with Alan Carr Easy way to stop smoking - I have used this method and can recommend it. I used to spend £50 weekly on cigs so it paid for itself within a very short time and they give a guarantee with their one day method. PS I am not employed by or on commission from them - promise.

The important thing to remember is that E-Cigarettes must not be used whilst using oxygen. These devices contain battery and electronic components, including a heating element to vapourise liquid. These are electronic devices with the potential for spark if a fault develops, and they vapourise a potential fuel source, hence you must not use them whilst using oxygen. The risk of using an e cigarette with oxygen is actually as dangerous as using an actual cigarette with oxygen.

Hi Marytaz

My son has tried E-CIGS he is asthmatic, he did find them good, but very difficult to keep it up.

He has got to have his fourth operation on his foot and his specialist has said he has to give up smoking tobbacco, because he will get he broken foot better so he is now smoking herbal fags which do not contain tobbacco, so he has been on them for two months.

saturday he had a WDP letter to say he is on the support group and would not be bothered again by them. he is manic depressive and working with people i think they would all run into the sea.

good luck with E-CIGS

jan

Were e cigarettes regulated as a medicine the for and against discussion with your son would be a far simpler one unfortunately we have no evidence what long term effects are on any lung condition.

Stopping smoking remains the only proven method of causing no further damage using smoking as a crutch for a mental condition the doctors treating your son should give their opinion.
