Do you mean exacerbation? Not always related to infection but a lot of the time they can be.
question with a question healthunlocked.com/blf/post...
Usually my husbands exacerbations are related to infections and we have been told that if two of the following symptoms worsen to start antibiotics - more coughing, more breathless or a change in colour in sputum. Although somedays he just has bad days when his breathing is worse of no apparent reason and the next day he is OK. Are you worried that you may have one? TAD xx
I have found that my breathing often deteriorates for emotional reasons eg: frustration, anger, exasperation. This is more frequent than actual 'exacerbations' caused by infection. XX
My husband the same Val xx
I have recently had an exasperation and was told it was due to an infection. Thankfully it was nnot as bad as the other I have had in the past
Hi Kad, the answer is yes, can be both.
The tutor at my PR was careful to explain that there are both.
The talk was in relation to Rescue Meds and when to take them.
For ie take your steroids if you're having a non infection exacerbation but start your ABs if you think you have an exacerbation due to infection (hard to tell which is which though when you're having one so making it urgent to see your doctor).

When I have an exacerbation, I usually have an infection and I go very low, short of breath, no appetite, chilly, listless, wobbly, hevy head, cough. I call my GP. but usually end up in hospital, as I deteriorate further!
Hope it doesn't happen to you in this way.
If you mean exasperation, I had one for the last few days, not receiving email notification. I still don;t have any. But I received tons of answers all at once!
I find I have to reduce the view percentage to see eveything on my screen. Then it's to small to read with my shortsightedness!
My husband often gives me exasperations.
exasperation, Is not being able to breath out as the lung in effect gets stuck.. It can be caused by thickening mucus or an infection.
If it gets severe call NHS 24 OR 111 and ask for advice however, if patient looks blue in colour call an ambulance as this indicates a lack of oxygen to the blood and vital organs.
