The scan in itself is nothing to worry about and pain free. It lasts approx 35 mins. I sometimes feel like im having palpitations, this I find can be caused by medication anxiety and just doing things too fast! Hope all goes well xx

Hi Southend

As you have been having palpitations your doctor has decided to check out the workings of your heart. This is just a precaution and so you shouldn't worry about having an echo. I've had lots of echos and they don't hurt. You never know they may say your heart is working perfectly. There are other reasons for getting palpitations e.g. side-effect from your medication or anxiety. I hope I have reassured you.

Kind Regards

Mandy

I had a echo done 5 wks ago,, nothing to it,, and if you wish you can even watch your heart in action,,mine was working fine,,palpitations are quite common whether you are ill or not, i used to suffer with them, turned out it was coffee, once i changed to de caff i was fine,,please try not to worry to much, and if it turns out to be your medication chat with your doctor to maybe swap,, xx

As others have said - various things can cause palpitations, including worrying about having palpitations. I have had palpitations with prednisolone and with coffee. Also with low grade fever and infection. Hopefully the scan results will reassure you. Try not to worry.

Palpitations can be due to drugs you take, excessive use of inhalers can cause this also. Hopefully the scan result will be good then you can look for other possible causes of your symptom, it could even be an allergic reaction of some sort. Stay calm and try not to worry if possible, just the thought of tests is worrying in its self best wishes

Yes I agree, one of the worst offenders can be ventolin, this can give you the red face flush and fast heartbeat.

Hi again southend.

Some of the meds can cause palpitations. It depends on what other symptoms you are presenting with the palpitations and what other checks your doctor is already carrying out or set up. There are a number of causes for palpitations and some of them are not always serious. Its good to get things checked out so that any problems can be treated where there is a need.

Take one step at a time.

I'm glad the docs are looking after you in getting these things checked out.

Best wishes BC

My GP told me to up my Ventolin but expect my heart rate to go up when I did it. It's bad news about the coffee, my favourite drink, he says with a freshly brewed espresso next to me.

To much salbutomal makes my AF worse I do have to be careful how much I use and now try to control my breathing without if I can. I had a time that I was using my inhaler so much I got my legs and arms twitching though out the night in bed. Drove my wife mad :)
