My partner has sarcoidosis and has been offered the flu jab by his work. Is there any reason why he shouldn't have?

I have sarcoidosis and get the flu jab each year. If in doubt he should speak to his GP or consultant.

Hi SJ2013 my husband Pete has had sarcoidosis for 22 years and has to have the flu jab each year (we are both getting the jab on Saturday) as to not have it would be very worrying. He did have flu some years ago and was very poorly indeed. I am sure your GP surgery can help dispel any possible worries you may have. It would be a good idea for you to get the jab too. I have had the flu jab for the first time this year as I work in a doctors surgery and I felt achy from having but worried my partner will have a worse effect. Unfortunately our GP's don't know enough about but will contact his consultant to check! I agree with everyone that to have the flu would be far worse. Thanks Carole . Take care Sally 
As others have said your husband's doctor will be the best person to advise on this, should there be any reason that contra indicates having the flu jab. Generally though it is important to have this protection.

I have sarcoid, loads of nodes all over both lungs. I definitely have the flu jab. Had mine about 3 weeks ago. Really nervous about getting flu as lungs will be in trouble. Doctor said I need it! Alison
Thanks Alison for replying. Did you have any side effects from having the flu jab? With my partner he finds the sarcoidosis attacks different parts ie shoulder last week. It first started in his feet and then he became very breathless and after having x ray the condition was confirmed back in April. Thanks for all the info Sally
Hi Sally, I have had no side effects from flu jabs. The swine flu jab made my arm ache for a few days but that was all. I've been unwell for some time. Had awful cough, breathless, cramps, anaemia, exhaustion,, pains in joints and muscles, feet pain etc. Good luck, Alison
