.. just like to ask why is it useful to have your own oximeter has i have seen some people do and where could i buy one
you would not believe the problems i have had getting back on this site but done it and only took nearly a month lol
I use one just for my own peace of mind. If my sats are a bit low I know to slow down a bit. I don't swear by it or use it constantly. Probably once or twice a day. I bought mine from Amazon for £19.95.
If you have problems with your saturations, it lets you keep an eye on them. Before I was prescribed oxygen, i noticed that they kept going down to the low 80's and 70's and spoke to my consultant who then did a walk test with me. So in my case it saved me from struggling and made them aware I needed supplementary oxygen. You will get one on Amazon
Hi Music, nice to see you made it back through the minefield. I got my oximeter three months ago from ClinicalGuard.com. It was slightly dearer at £21.99 but delivery was fast and its accuracy checked out well against the one at my GP's surgery.

I bought mine from Amazon. I can't remember what I paid for it I got mine shortly after being diagnosed when I thought I was going to go downhill very fast. The good news is I'm better now than what I was 3 and a half years. Giving up smoking and using the inhalers has made huge difference in how I am.
I personally find it useful to check my sats and pulse - if they are lower than usual it can be an indication of a coming exacerbation and makes me re-check my lifestyle. I bought mine from Amazon at £19.00 too - and have checked it against the G.P. one and it's exactly the same reading. Great that you've got back on too

Hi music, welcome back, I wondered where you had got to. I bought mine new from ebay 24.99 by anapulse chose that one as it was a uk seller. I use it a couple of times a week, just as a guide, and then if I feel a bit iffy I check to see if it has dropped, like scrobbity says its an indication if an infection is coming. When it's normal for me, it puts my mind at rest and stops me worrying.

Just hate the changes they've made so not really visited often...been pretty depressed since Kit had that last stroke too which I couldn't cope with and started smoking again. Suppose I feel guilty admitting it all.
Hi Lorraine, its nice to have you back here, how is Kit now? and apart from the smoking bit how are you? and as for the smoking, you have had a lot to cope with, and guilt don't help with anything. Perhaps one day, maybe soon, maybe later, you can have another go at quitting. love Anna xx

That's what I like to hear & I'll not beat myself up either for wasting GP's time this morning. I went thinking I had infection but chest was clear :-). Just been feeling ill for the last few days. Ah, well, tomorrows another day.
