My matron prescribed Oramorph 2 or 3 months ago and I find it helps in several ways. It relaxes my breathing, I'm less liable to gulp, it reduces my tension. There can be some pain relief. She suggested sometimes taking it prior to exerting myself and it helps here too.

I was worried by the morph element but she assured me it is not addictive.

Hope this helps.

i have been using oramorph for a very painful leg ulcer, mainly at night.

i have found it has helped me with the exertion of getting into bed

i am more relaxed, and rested, but have limited my usage to nights only.

i too, have been very cautious regarding it .so understand exactly where you

are both coming from. my GP requested i withheld taking it for one night, i found

i still had a reasonably good nights sleep.

happier that the ulcer is far less painful too.

My granddaughter was given Oramorph, she was only 14 months old and had a solid tumour germ cell cancer in her ovaries which spread to her lungs leaving only 3 days air space when initially diagnosed. We were told it would reduce her pain relax her and strengthen her lungs. They eventually cleared her lungs with chemo shrunk and removed the tumour. treatment lasted for over a year, the cancer returned within a month a further year followed she is now 18 years of age and making medical history as she was given very little chance of survival only treatment to buy time but suffered no ill effects from the Oramorph and eventually weaned off it although it is not addictive. I don't think I would worry about using it.
