Hi mogsy, were you able to get on a pulmonary rehabilitation course? Noticed you asked about this in April. The pulmonary rehabilitation course will help you manage your lung condition, it includes lots of self help advice you can use to help avoid infection.

Briefly the things that help lung patients the most are:

Attend a pulmonary rehabilitation course.

Refrain from smoking and passive smoking.

Exercise regularly.

Eat Healthily

Have an annual flu jab

Have a pneumonia vaccination.

Try to avoid people with colds or a virus of any kind.

There's lots of things we can do.

Hope you can access a PR course.

Ah thanks for that , so do I at least the suns shining today

BlakeyC seems to have covered all the angles. Thanks

The only advice i have is to recognise when your control is slipping and act earlier... Ty and 'head it off at the pass' so to speak.

Also, always finish your courses of antibiotics! Many patients don't, this may leave a bit of infection that means you repeat the whole cycle again. In other words, it is possible that rather than have three seperate infections you have had one that hasn't fully gone away!

Lastly, after an exacerbation i am tired out and i am sure my 'reserves' are low. This does open the door to further problems.

Best wishes for a healthier future

Kevin

I think sometimes you get into the cycle of getting them - has the Doctor changed your antibiotics? Six weeks ago my husband was on his third infection in 6 weeks and the new antibiotics helped him and cleared it all up! I am a great believer in hand gel and can admit to been a little over the top when I hear people sneeze near my husband! Could have cried recently when my daughter got a very bad cold! but we used hand gel a lot! Vitamin D supplements are supposed to help and given the lack of sunshine in the country "usually" - it makes sense. Though you might be better asking the Doctor - they can do a blood test to check your levels. Hope you get this infection cleared up quickly. TAD xx

Hi, I knock back effervescent Vit C with zinc - cheapest is Tesco 2for3 - and lace it with echinacea drops at the first sign of anything dodgy going on.

I'm also trying to remember to take Manuka honey which has natural antibiotic qualities.

Drink loads to keep any mucus fluid and easy to expel.

It's so bloomin annoying isn't it. Grrrr. Hope this helps
