I had one just over two years ago. Nothing like I expected. Very simple and really quite pain free. I had a drain in for a day or two afterwards and then home. Nowhere near the experience I thought it would be. Don't worry.

I'd built myself up for it being a big deal so was pleasantly surprised! There was a little discomfort in the days after probably when pain relief wore off but not enough to take anything for it. Neat little scars.

I had one last November. Glad I did because the results answered some questions. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. Don't worry about it the drains left in are not very comfortable but apart from that no problems.

Hi Carol its were they have a look to see if they can find out different things that dont show up on a scan. They also take a bit of your lung to test it. I hope this helps you. Not every one with copd need to have it. X
