Hi. Has anyone been put on oramorph to help with coughing. If so did it work. I’m a bit wary of starting it

Isn't oramorph a pain killer (morphine)? Only ever been prescribed morphine for severe pain by a consultant. Never been prescribed anything for coughing though, but respiratory physiotherapist taught me how to clear my lungs of phlegm in order to avoid too much coughing. There are also physio methods to assist with cough prevention when the cough reflex is sensitive - Google "stop cough technique".

Thanks for your reply. I do chest clearance too as shown by a physiotherapist but the coughing continues. My consultant said a low dose of oramorph can sometimes help with chronic cough.

Let's hope it works - keep us posted. 🤞

I have oramorph but to ease breathlessness. I have advanced COPD and late onset asthma but don't have problems with coughing. Has it been suggested by your doctor or nurse that it may help? If so it may be worth trying. It is prescribed in such a low dose as not to be addictive.

Thanks for your reply. Oramorph was suggested by my respiratory consultant. So 🤞🤞

Definitely worth a try if your consultant suggested it.
